Uvarovite - Andarab, Afghanistan

Uvarovite: Ca3Cr2(SiO4)3

Koh-e-Tizabi, Taghonak, Andarab District, Baghlan Province, Afghanistan

45 x 48 x 42mm The Uvarovite is 5 x 3mm.

A sharp intense emerald Green Dodecahedral Uvarovite crystal embedded in matrix. This gemmy mineral is extremely hard to come by and definitely one for the garnet collector.

Mined in Afghanistan in 2015- 16 from a recently discovered locality producing this rich green rare garnet variety Uvarovite. There are very few places worldwide that produce this variety and of this nice size and lustre.

This new find (originally in 2012) is mentioned in Lapis magazine, January 2013
