Bonanza Mine, Martin Peak, Salome, Little Harquehala Mts.
La Paz Co. Arizona, USA
67 x 52 x 15mm
A swathe of emerald green Dioptase micro crystals adorn the display surface of this specimen from a less common locale for this popular mineral.
The Bonanza mine at an altitude of 1,800 feet in the Little Harquehala mountains was started in 1888 and worked intermittently until 1964.
Mainly underground workings, the main Bonanza shaft was sunk to about 600 foot deep, with several other shafts spread over six claims, all digging for Gold, Silver and associated metallic ores like lead and copper.
